DVM, Residency-Trained in Small Animal Surgery
Annie Marquiss
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Andrea (Annie) Marquiss stayed close to home for her undergraduate studies, earning dual degrees in Zoology and French from Miami University of Ohio. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University in 2019.
Following graduation, Dr. Marquiss (mar-kw-iss) completed a rotating internship in Tampa, Florida, where her interest in surgery continued to grow. She then pursued two surgical internships—first in Dayton, Ohio, and later in New Orleans, Louisiana—to further develop her surgical skills and experience.
In 2022, Dr. Marquiss began her three-year surgical residency with Mission and Overland Park Veterinary Emergency & Specialty. Upon completing her residency in July 2025, she officially joined the MVES team as a full-time veterinary surgeon. In pursuit of becoming a board-certified surgeon, Dr. Marquiss successfully passed Phase 1 of her board exams and will take Phase 2 once her publication has been accepted.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Marquiss enjoys tending to her plants, crafting, reading, traveling, and doting on her three cats: Deimos (the God of Terror), Typhon (the God of Nightmares), and Iris (the Goddess of Rainbows).
