While Dr. Thorn initially did not envision a career in emergency veterinary medicine, her path took a decisive turn during her third year of veterinary school. During this time, she discovered a love for the variety and excitement that comes with working in the ER. As an assistant in the ER at her school, she thrived in a dynamic environment, appreciating the diversity of cases and the constant need for quick thinking and adaptability.

During her studies, Dr. Thorn further solidified her commitment to emergency medicine through several ER externships. These experiences provided invaluable hands-on learning and confirmed her desire to specialize in this fast-paced field.
